Miracle Mile

In 1921, the stretch of Wilshire Boulevard now known as the Miracle Mile was a 20-foot-wide dirt road, flanked by oil wells and barley fields. Today, the strip is a busy thoroughfare, home to museums, the La Brea Tar Pits, and a collection of historic Art Deco structures. The story of the Miracle Mile’s stunning transformation from cow path to commercial artery — told through selected images from the region’s photographic archives — is part of the larger narrative of L.A.’s decentralization, as electric railways and automobiles encouraged sprawl and drained the downtown retail district of its vitality.

Miracle Mile is a stretch on Wilshire Blvd between Fairfax Avenue and La Brea Boulevard – and it is home to four major Los Angeles museums: LA County Museum of Art, La Brea Tar Pits (Page Museum), Craft and Folk Art Museum, and Petersen’s Auto Museum. The area is within an easy drive or bus ride to The Grove and Farmers Market. In fact, you can walk from Wilshire and Fairfax (near Petersen’s Auto Museum) to Third Street and Fairfax (Farmer’s Market) in about 10-15 minutes.

The design of the building storefronts facilitated presentations by local merchants, combining the concepts of window shopping and driving into one activity. New businesses continue to appear along the boulevard. Old businesses are sporting new looks and many of our buildings are being restored and remodeled.

Hundreds of thousands of visitors come to check out the many museums historic art and architecture. Clinton Wade and his associates are experts in Miracle Mile and will guide you through the entire process of purchasing a home in this amazing location.

Los Angeles is home to literally thousands of public, charter and private schools. One of the great benefits of having so many schools to choose from is being able to find a school that truly suits your child and your family – whatever your specific needs are. Since different children flourish via different teaching styles, one of Los Angeles’ huge pluses is such a diverse array of schools that celebrate all children. On this page, you will find information on LA’s top-rated public and private schools, complete with ratings/measurements in terms of specifics, including academic performance and equity.

Whether choosing a public, charter or private school, you are sure to find a wide range of options for your beloved child in Los Angeles. And, as the proud father of two amazing children, I am very grateful about this.
