Hollywood

Hollywood is also a highly ethnically diverse, densely populated, economically diverse neighborhood and retail business district. Hollywood was a small community in 1870 and was incorporated as a municipality in 1903. It officially merged with the city of Los Angeles in 1910, and soon thereafter a prominent film industry began to emerge, eventually becoming the most dominant and recognizable in the world.

Hollywood has long represented the glitz and glamour of the film, television, and music industries, most studios have moved away from this quirky district in favor of other L.A. neighborhoods, like Burbank.

Nevertheless, Hollywood still attracts millions of visitors each year who travel there to pay homage to their favorite stars and perhaps even catch a glimpse of a few famous personalities. Sometimes they’re lucky! And while, for years, Hollywood had a rather seedy reputation, the town has endeavored to make recent improvements in the areas most visited by tourists, adding a new kind of charm to this interesting neighborhood.

For millions of visitors, Hollywood is an essential part of the Los Angeles experience. Things to do in Hollywood include must-see shows and attractions, celebrity-frequented restaurants, and world class hotels. Experience Tinseltown glamour at TCL Chinese Theatre or the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which has honored celebrities for over 50 years.

The state-of-the-art Dolby Theatre is home to the Academy Awards. Universal Studios Hollywood is a world famous theme park that includes the mind-blowing “Transformers: The Ride 3-D.” Other things to do in Hollywood include the shops and restaurants at Hollywood & Highland Center, or the delicious multicultural cuisines of nearby Thai Town and Little Armenia.

Los Angeles is home to literally thousands of public, charter and private schools. One of the great benefits of having so many schools to choose from is being able to find a school that truly suits your child and your family – whatever your specific needs are. Since different children flourish via different teaching styles, one of Los Angeles’ huge pluses is such a diverse array of schools that celebrate all children. On this page, you will find information on LA’s top-rated public and private schools, complete with ratings/measurements in terms of specifics, including academic performance and equity.

Whether choosing a public, charter or private school, you are sure to find a wide range of options for your beloved child in Los Angeles. And, as the proud father of two amazing children, I am very grateful about this.
